Cultosaurus is one of my favorite stores in St. Petersburg. It’s made the I Love the Burg Holiday gift guide every single year since it opened. This locally-owned store features an array of artist designed toys, nostalgic action and vinyl figures, art books and graphic novels and more. Owners TJ and Courtney have carefully curated every square inch of the shop. Now they’re ready to move from their 16th Street brick-and-mortar to 529 Central Avenue, in the space formerly occupied by Rock Shop.

While the space is slightly smaller than their current location, the Central Avenue space will add far more visibility for one of the coolest businesses in St. Pete. Find figures from The Simpsons, DC and Marvel Comics, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Bob’s Burgers, Adventure time and other classic shows.

Cultosaurus brings pop culture icons to Central Avenue

Curious what Cultosaurus has to offer? WATCH this video we made showcasing all that the designer toy and art store carries. The inventory rotates frequently, and is as much an art gallery as it is a retailer.

When we spoke with TJ in December, he noted that they would completely deck out the immersive new space. Teaser photos show space ships and clouds hanging from the ceiling, and a vibrant root system of multi-color orbs hovering above the products.

Cultosaurus closed its 16th Street location back in March, and officially opened in its new space on April 22. Make sure to follow Cultosaurus on Instagram for updates on new items in the store.

A new gathering space in downtown St. Pete

One thing we’ll miss is the extraordinary, highly referential and Easter egg-laden mural by Derek Donnelly on the exterior of the 16th Street location. But the new space is filled with cloud lights, a rainbow tiled entrance that pays homage to Chicago, and plenty of fantastic inventory to enjoy.

Inside the new store is a dreamy backroom filled with amazing art books, sardonic pop culture art, punk action figures, and some Image comics.
