One of our favorite (and we mean top-five, easy) Tampa spots is popping up in St. Pete this month for a collaborative, must-try feast. Lucky Tigre, the Filipino-fusion star in Old West Tampa, and Cheeky’s, the new St. Pete seafood spot, are hosting a Kamayan-style seafood boil on Monday, April 13, in honor of Filipino Food Month.
Every month should be Filipino Food Month, if you ask us, but we’re more than happy for the exuse to enjoy the delicious creations of Chef Julie in one of the Grand Central District’s best new hangouts. Tickets are limited, and there are two seating times for what will be a family-style feast. As long as supplies last, which probably won’t be long, you can get tickets for the 6 pm seating here, and find tickets for the 8 pm seating here.

The coconut curry seafood boil will be the star of the show, loaded up with coconut garlic shrimp, Longaniza sausage, fried jasmine rice, pickled papaya, and red potatoes, along with cornbread hush puppies with guava jelly to start. There will also be specialty dishes, sides and cocktails available a la carte, created specifically for the occasion.
This story should be your sign to do two things. First, skip lunch on the 13th, you’ll be glad you have the room. Second, find time in the near future to go visit Chef Julie at Lucky Tigre in Tampa. We recently wrote about her story and her food on our sister site That’s So Tampa (below), and we’ve been craving a return visit ever since. Meanwhile, seafood lovers would do well to keep an eye on Cheeky’s. This is their second seafood boil since opening, and along with the news on this Kamayan feast, they dropped the bomb that these boils are going to become a monthly thing.
Cheeky’s is located at 2823 Central Ave. Lucky Tigre is located at 1901 N Howard Ave.
