When Hurricanes Helene and Milton arrived in the fall of 2024, they didn’t just damage Caddy’s Treasure Island. They buried it. Storm surge smashed through the bottom floor and left a layer of sand three to four feet deep. Four bars were either destroyed or simply gone. Walls and floors needed to be replaced. The building, which dates back to the 1950s, took a beating that would have finished many restaurants for good.
For more than a year, the team operated out of a tent and a food truck under a city ordinance that made limited beachside service possible while reconstruction happened inside. People sat on benches, ordered drinks, and watched sunsets from the sand. It was better than nothing, but it wasn’t really Caddy’s, and the regulars who love this place felt that.

Now it is. The fully renovated ground floor and second floor patio are both back and open for business, which means the sunsets that made this place a local favorite are once again framed the way they should be. There’s something different about watching the Gulf go orange from a proper second floor patio versus a folding chair on the sand. The experience has earned its reputation back.
The ribbon cutting ceremony is Thursday, April 9 at 6 p.m., in partnership with the Pinellas Beaches Chamber, marking the official start of the soft opening phase.

Lots of memories
For a lot of people on these beaches, Caddy’s is incredibly meaningful. It’s one of those spots that holds real memories, the kind of place where you brought your family on vacation, celebrated things with friends, or simply planted yourself on a Friday afternoon to watch the sun go down over the Gulf. That’s worth acknowledging, no matter how you feel.
The rebuild took 18 months, covering a full renovation of both the ground floor and second floor patio. The reopening also includes a partnership with Kind Mouse, giving back to the organization that supported the community throughout hurricane recovery. That’s meaningful, because this wasn’t just about one bar getting back on its feet. The whole community went through something together, and the businesses that made it through carry that history.
The team has been transparent that this is a soft opening phase, with operations easing in gradually. Go for the patio. Go for the sunset. That’s what this place has always done best, and after 18 months, it’s finally able to do it again.
Hours and menu details are subject to change during the soft opening. Check caddys.com for updates.
