Pesky Pelican
A new grill and brewpub has opened in the Burg. The Pesky Pelican, boasting an exterior painted by the prolific and loved Vitale Brothers, is serving up a litany of beers, cocktails and good old fashioned beach-style comfort food. The Pesky Sunset — rhum, OJ and grenadine –, the Cuban Rose — rhum, tonic, OJ, grenadine — and Priscilla’s Power Punch — rhum, lime juice and grenadine — are essential summer drinks for Burg residents.

The restaurant also has a small list of hand-crafted small batch desserts. Their gooey butter cake is as satisfying as it sounds. We plan on trying their pineapple upside down cake on our next visit. Their entrees include a fresh spread of mixed veggies drenched in lemon butter with a Tilapia filet topped with spinach and mozzarella cheese, a food coma inducing patty melt and their Cuban hero sandwich that meets Dagwood standards.
The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday, from 11am-11pm, Friday and Saturday, from 11am to 11:30pm, and Sunday from noon to 10pm. The Pesky Pelican is located at 923 72nd Street North. They plan to add a nano brewery to the spot soon.
Escape St. Pete Officially Open
The EDGE District has become the go to spot for both food and fun in the Burg. A new escape room spot in the district recently opened its doors. Escape St. Pete is a live adventure game where players are locked in a room and have to make use of elements in the room to solve a series of puzzles and escape within one hour. One of the puzzles leaves visitors locked inside an evil scientist’s lab and another brings you into a writer’s cabin.
Make your reservations online and use the promo code BOOKNOW5 for $5 off each ticket. Their rooms can host up to eight players at a time. Escape St. Pete is located at 1041 Central Avenue. Visit their website for further details on rooms and corporate offerings.
