If you’re in need of a good slice of pizza – or an entire pie, no shame in that – there is an absolute abundance of great spots in St. Petersburg. From downtown to the beaches and everywhere in between, the Sunshine City is loaded with pizza of all styles.

In honor of that National Pizza Day piping-hot goodness, we here at I Love the Burg compiled a list of our favorite places to go when that cheesy, carb-fueled craving hits. In the name of being concise (a full list of St. Pete pizzerias would go on for days) we’re just highlighting a handful of the top picks here. Scroll down for even more great options, and send us an email at info@ilovetheburg.com if we missed one of your favorites!
Old Northeast Pizza
Picked by Andrew: Big slices. Good prices. The perfect late night bite in the city. Each slice is super saucy (which I’m a huge fan of). For me, just a classic slice of cheese pizza will do.
718 2nd St N
Toby’s Original Little Italy
Picked by Bob: There’s a reason Little Italy has been open for 50 years, and it’s all about the classic New York-style pizza. When all you want is just a great, no frills pizza, this is my top spot in town. (And don’t forget the garlic knots.)
3523 49th St N
Craft Kafe
Picked by Ysa: They’re a paradise for those of us who are looking for gluten-free pizza. Their Buffalo chicken, vegan, and breakfast pizzas are all top notch.
200 Central Ave
Angelo’s Grill & Bar
Picked by Dex: Definitely the perfect spot after a night out or after an unsatisfying dinner with portions made for birds. The New York-style meatlovers pizza or their pepperoni should do the trick and help you get a good night’s sleep. Oh, and the full liquor bar is rare for most pizza joints so that gives them extra points.
36 1st Ave N
La Strada Mobile Kitchen
Picked by Andrew: It’s a beautiful labor of love. The wood-fired pies offer a wonderfully soft crust, and the texture is super satisfying. The prosciutto and truffle oil pizza is a god-tier pie, for sure.
Pizza Box
Picked by Bob: Pizza is all about the dough, and I could happily eat nothing but the doughy crusts of the wood-fired pizzas from Pizza Box for a week straight. Don’t skip the rest of the pizza though; they have some of the best toppings combinations in town.
923 Central Ave
Top Slice
Picked by Rob: They have a great lunch special and their downtown location makes them convenient to stop in from work. The fresca pizza and the garlic knots are what do it for me.
21 3rd St N
Colony Grill
Picked by Andrew: I’m a Connecticut guy, so I’m biased for sure. But the New England-style bar pie is what I grew up on. The thin, crispy crust lets you fold each slice, and the luge of hot oil is a sensational kick of flavor. For those not in the know, the pepper-infused olive oil pizza will ruin you for other pizzas.
670 Central Ave
Nicko’s Pizza and Subs
Picked by Bob: The family behind this hidden gem have been tossing dough for decades, and while their massive specialty pizzas are unbeatable on their own, we can’t recommend enough that you don’t skip the sandwiches.
