The worlds of tech and comedy are colliding this winter as one of the world’s hottest young comedians and podcast hosts brings her world tour to St. Pete’s Coastal Creative. Alexis Gay, host of the “Non-Technical” podcast, is bringing her uproarious show to St. Pete for three nights, January 30 – February 1, and tickets are available now.
A tech employee turned comedian, Gay’s new tour “Unprofessional” has been a hit at comedy festivals across the globe, from Edinburgh Fringe Fest to the San Francisco SketchFest. Her relatable brand of comedy explores office dynamics, tech culture, the tightrope walk of work-life balance, and all the little things in life that keep us moving (and laugh-crying) along.

Gay will perform five showings of Unprofessional, all taking place at Coastal Creative, 2201 1st Avenue South, one of Tampa Bay’s premier stand-up comedy venues. Shows take place Thursday, January 30 at 8 pm, Friday, January 31 at 7 and 9 pm, and Saturday, February 1 at 7 and 9 pm. Both GA and VIP tickets are currently available, though all of her previous tour dates have sold out, so we recommend snagging your tickets soon.
Coastal Creative has become a regional star for standup comedy as it not only showcases budding local talent but also attracts some of the biggest names in comedy from across the globe. Part of what makes Coastal Creative is that it has two unique spaces for shows, both offering intimate experiences with high-end production.
In addition to their main warehouse stage, Coastal has converted its LED virtual studio into a black box theatre, bigger and better than anything you might find in New York City or Los Angeles. With help from local and national partners, Coastal Creative is leading the way in making Tampa Bay one of America’s premiere comedy destinations.
Alexis Gay is a rising star coming to St. Pete
Fresh off a critically acclaimed run at Edinburgh Fringe and directed by NYC comedy-scene veteran Matt Gehring, Unprofessional explores “making work your entire personality, going nowhere on the hedonic treadmill, and worrying so much about your LinkedIn profile that it lands you at the hair doctor.”
Clips from her stand-up and viral sketch videos on instagram have garnered Gay more than 15 million views online, as she has rocketed to fame. Meanwhile, her tech-based podcast has attracted some of the industry’s preeminent minds, while its relatable tone has made it a fan favorite across more than 100 episodes. Guests on the acclaimed podcast have included Mark Cuban, tech columnist Kara Swisher, and even Presidential candidate Andrew Yang.
While she’s quickly made a name for herself (including profiles by ABC’s Nightline, Business INsider and CNBC), Unprofessional is Gay’s debut show, and an opportunity to catch one of the world’s hottest young comics (and most relatable voices) in an intimate setting at Coastal Creative.
