Kahwa Coffee debuts new drive-thru in Dunedin

Kahwa Coffee debuts new drive-thru in Dunedin

Raphael and Sarah Perrier opened Kahwa Coffee in downtown St. Pete 15 years ago. Kahwa just celebrated its 15 year anniversary, and operates more than a dozen locations across the Tampa Bay region. The prolific coffee company’s newest location can be found in Dunedin at 1520 County Road 1.

The new drive-thru has been a long time coming, and area residents have pined for a drive-thru in their neighborhood. Kahwa is a purveyor excelsior coffee; the brand offers your favorite drinks such as lattes, cappuccino, cold brew, and (their pretty famous) chai tea latte.

In addition to drinks, Kahwa also serves up some of the best pastries in the region. Its cafes carry treats from the likes of Pop Goes the Waffle and We Vegan Eats.

The new Dunedin Drive Thru will be open Monday through Friday from 6am-6:30pm, and Saturday through Sunday from 7am-6:30pm.

Kahwa was founded nearly 15 years ago by Raphael and Sarah Perrier in St. Pete, Florida. Since its inception, it has become an integral part of the booming coffee culture in St. Petersburg. In addition to operating myriad cafes, Kahwa also has a host of wholesale partners that find creative ways to serve up good coffee.

Kahwa partners with local businesses

You can find Kahwa at St. Pete gems such as Urban Stillhouse, The Hollander Hotel, The Wooden Rooster, and The Bakery at Cassis.

In a region so defined by the proliferation of exceptional coffee shops, it is heartening to see the continued growth and development of Kahwa, a brew I’ve been drinking since I was a student at Eckerd in 2011.

Earlier in 2021, news broke this week that Whole Foods would be moving in to the plaza currently occupied by Suncoast Fitness, Dollar General, and several other businesses along 38th Avenue North in St. Petersburg. It has come to our attention that this also includes Kahwa Coffee’s drive-thru location at 3901 3rd St N. The drive-thru is one of the brand’s most popular and trafficked locations.

Opening a shipping container drive-thru

Kahwa’s 3rd Street drive-thru could close in early summer as the landlord preps the parcel for demolition. The owners are actively seeking a new location on 38th Avenue North to replace the drive-thru.

Kahwa does have a new 4th Street drive-thru in the works that will be comprised of three refurbished shipping containers at 6623 4th Street North.

A specific opening date is still TBA, but you can follow Kahwa on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for updates.
