Old St. Pete Police HQ to be turned into office space, market-rate condos, retail space

The news is out! St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman has selected EDGE Central to redevelop the old St. Pete Police headquarters in the EDGE District, according to reports from St. Pete Rising and St. Pete Catalyst.

The city released a request for proposals, and EDGE Central was one of several developers who put in a bid for the project. Plans for the site include 100,000 square feet of Class A office space, something the ‘Burg seriously needs.

Have you tried to grab a quick lunch in the EDGE District lately? If you’re not walking or biking, you’re probably struggling to find a spot on Central. This new development will include more public parking in the booming district. Thank you, EDGE Central!

The planned 600-space parking garage will feature 400 public spaces, with the other 200 reserved for office tenants.

St. Pete Catalyst notes that there will be 60 market-rate condos, and 30 workforce rental housing units, too.

The final proposal will go before city council on December 12.

EDGE Central Development Partners is comprised of Jay Miller of J Square Developers, Bowen Arnold of DDA Developers, and Will Conroy and Craig Sher of Backstreets Capital LLC.

This news follows the announcement that a Moxy Hotel and The Hall on Franklin Food Hall will join the District in 2020.
