Classic French bistro and grocery, Gastronomix, opens in Largo

Gastronomix, a French bakery, restaurant, and grocery store, quietly opened this summer under the ownership of Lionel Belda at 11928 Seminole Blvd. in Largo. The space features two adjoining rooms that separate the bakery, grocery, and breakfast area from the expansive restaurant, which seats up to 125 guests. Patrons can enjoy an espresso at the bar or unwind with a generous glass of wine.

“We have a standard menu,” says Belda, “but we’re always creating new specials. We just made kiwi tarts and nectarine-cinnamon tarts.” Alongside a rotating selection of sweets, Gastronomix serves a new full-course French dinner every Thursday through Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Recent menu highlights include French onion soup, walnut salad, chicken curry, chocolate mousse, and crème brûlée. “We’re a classic French bistro,” Belda explains. Follow Gastronomix on Facebook for updates on upcoming specialty items.

French and European imports at Gastronomix

One aspect that sets Gastronomix apart from other French bistros is its grocery section, which offers a variety of French and European imports. Shoppers can find a selection of syrups, jams, honey, sausages, sardines, cakes, bread, coffee, and more.

The grocery also features displays dedicated to local artisans. “Our goal is to highlight local craftsmanship, and right now, we’re showcasing women from St. Pete who create natural beauty products,” says Belda. Currently, the shop features soaps and creams from Botanica, a local beauty brand.
