One of the biggest breweries on the land along the Gulf of Mexico is taking things out onto the water. 3 Daughters Brewing announced that it is hosting its inaugural Geiger’s Pest Services Daddy-Daughter Inshore Fishing Tournament, bringing families together in the name of sportsmanship, fun, and at least a little bit of beer afterward.

The tournament takes place on Saturday, April 13, with fishing beginning in the morning followed by a family-friendly party and mini-festival at the 3 Daughters Tasting Room in St. Pete. While the name of the tournament, Daddy-Daughter, is a play on the brewery’s name, teams of any kind and all ages are welcome, but must have at least two females. Part of the inspiration for the event is to encourage women and girls to participate – and feel comfortable – in what is typically a male-dominated activity and sport.

Tickets for teams of four with private boats are $200, and for those without a boat, there are charter tickets available at $1,200 per team. Cash and prizes will be awarded for the top three teams in each category (red fish, snook, and trout), and the top three teams overall.

In addition to the inshore tournament, there will also be a free kid’s fishing event sponsored by A Reel Future, which will provide prizes for up to 50 kids who will fish from on land (seawall, beach, pier etc.).

Following the fishing, the official weigh-in and after party will take over the brewery, featuring a massive kid’s zone with inflatables and games, live music, a photo booth, raffles, and plenty of food and drink.

The choice of a fishing tournament is not an unusual one for 3 Daughters, as the brewing staff has long connected its creations to its favorite pastime. Two of the earliest beers they made were the Bimini Twist IPA and the Rod Bender Red Ale, while the Circle Hooked Hazy IPA and the Sternline Stout remain big favorites today. And of course, the brewery got its name when the founders asked each other the question: “how much beer will we have to brew to get our 3 Daughters through college?” This daddy-daughter fishing tournament is a perfect combo.
