We love the Burg, but we also love to travel. Tampa International Airport is one of the premier travel facilities in the world. Excellent customer service, a litany of acclaimed restaurants, and a multi-billion dollar renovation make it a major point of interest in the aviation community.
The rise of the Tampa Bay area as a culinary and cultural destination continue to generate interest from hubs across the globe. A blend of opportunity and exhaustive work have allowed the airport to add several key nonstop flights to highly desirable destinations.
Nonstop flights to San Francisco takeoff
One of the first major victories for the airport came in 2016 when they announced nonstop service to San Francisco aboard United Airlines. The daily nonstop flights began on February 16. A procession of water canons, a large United brand BBQ smoker, and a cake tower welcomed passengers arriving in Tampa from San Francisco on the first day of service.
Connections to Iceland and Utah
In March, TPA announced that Delta would begin daily, year-round service to Salt Lake City — set to begin on December 21, 2017. The service is projected to have an economic impact of $16 million in the region.
From Tampa Bay to Queens
New York’s LaGuardia Airport in Queens is the number one market for the Tampa Bay community. Southwest Airlines looks to capitalize on the area’s business and vacation interests in the Northeast by offering daily nonstop flights to LaGuardia Airport with fares starting as low as $89.
Flights will depart TPA at 5:40am and 2:35pm, and return flights from LaGuardia will depart at 8:55am and 6:15pm. The service should begin early this summer. You can book your tickets on Southwest’s website.
New routes coming soon to San Diego
The west coast connection doesn’t end with San Francisco. On June 22, Southwest Airlines announced nonstop flights between Tampa and San Diego. Those flights officially launch on January 8, 2018.
Come February, 2018, residents will be able to enjoy season nonstop service to both Toronto and Montreal from TPA via Transat. Service begins on February 18, 2018.
