McArthur’s set to re-open soon, renamed “The Irish Pub on Fourth”

We’ve been anxiously awaiting news on McArthur’s Irish Pub, one of our longtime favorites on 4th Street North, since it closed for repairs after last fall’s hurricanes. Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, the beloved local haunt is making its grand return.

While the menu is staying largely the same (welcomed news for regulars who love the authentic eats), ownership is re-branding the restaurant as The Irish Pub on Fourth to better reflect how it came to be known by regulars. Now, ownership plans for the new-old pub to open back up to the public within the next week, and we can’t wait to get back in for some of the best fish and chips in town. The Pub is located at 9246 4th Street North.

Although much will be unchanged, there are plenty of new things to be excited about when The Pub re-opens, including a few “exciting updates” to the menu. Ownership also turned lemons into lemonade as they used the hurricane damage as an opportunity to make some minor upgrades to the interior of the building, giving the dining room a more elevated atmosphere. New owners Richie and Jill Hamm (who also opened Outcast Brewing Co. last year) had just taken over The Pub last spring, and the pair expressed excitement at showcasing the updated look and getting back to serving regulars.

Guests can expect to see updates that provide a seamless flow through the entire space, improved additional seating, and a fresh aesthetic that better reflects their traditional Irish vision. All while maintaining the warm and welcoming neighborhood-pub experience they’re loved for.

However, while the items on the menu aren’t changing dramatically, the team says they are introducing a litany of specials to give locals quick, reliable and affordable lunch options. Details are being kept under wraps for now, but The Pub expressed excitement at providing a unique and convenient midday experience.

“Our new lunch specials are designed for those on the go—whether they’re in between meetings, running errands, or just looking for a quick and satisfying bite. We’re going to be serving a selection of fresh, flavorful dishes served fast, so you can sit down, enjoy your meal, and be on your way—no five-course commitment, no long wait times.”

Meanwhile, the timing of this grand re-opening couldn’t be more perfect, with St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner on March 17. As a combo St. Paddy’s party and opening extravaganza, The Pub is hosting a full weekend of Irish events and specials. In partnership with Guinness, their will be live music, authentic Irish Fare, drink specials, and “a festive atmosphere both outside and in.”

The Pub on Fourth brings pub life to North St. Pete

As for the name change, ownership said the decision came from recognizing that their regulars have always referred to the establishment as “The Pub,” rather than McArthur’s. In fact, they said, many people were completely unfamiliar with the name McArthur’s, but when mentioned as “the Irish Pub on 4th Street,” it was instantly recognizable.

“Given this strong association, we decided to embrace the name that naturally resonated with our community,” ownership explained. “Our goal was to create a cleaner, more authentic Irish identity for the brand – something simple, recognizable, and timeless.”

They say the new name not only helps with recognition, but also aligns with their long term view of expanding to the brand to additional locations.

The Irish Pub on Fourth is located at 9246 4th Street North and will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Follow them on instagram to see the latest news and updates.
