A hotspot for Mediterranean eats, Miro’s Place quietly opened at the end of last year, and while the destination has stayed under the radar, it’s become a favorite for those in the know. Miro’s Place is located at 1100 94th Avenue North, dishing up Balkan eats from Albania, Bosnia and Serbia for breakfast, lunch and dinner every Tuesday-Sunday.
We got the tip from an intrepid member of our St. Pete Supper Club, and it only took a little bit of research to realize this really is quite the hidden gem. Open for nearly nine months, Miro’s Place has a perfect 5-star rating across the board – every single current Yelp, Google, and Facebook review is the highest possible rating. Not that reviews can’t be wrong, but that many positives without a single negative is quite the accomplishment for any restaurant in the digital age of everyone being a food critic.

Miro’s Place serves up a variety of meat-forward dishes from its “Traditional Balkan Grill” menu, including cevapi and sudzukice sausage, pljeskavica burgers, piletina grilled chicken, and cufte beef patties. They also offer gulash, fried cheese, a variety of paninis and sandwiches (several of the more American variety), salads, meze platters, and crepes. We also wouldn’t say no to the gyro fries.
If you’re more in the mood for breakfast, several reviews have mentioned how wonderful the coffee is, and the five breakfast plates offer a little something for everyone. The scrambled eggs with Balkan sujuk sausage (served with feta, sour cream, tomato and lettuce) is an excellent way to dip a toe in the Balkans without leaving St. Pete.
We haven’t had a chance to visit yet, but after reading the reviews, Miro’s Place has moved to the top of our list. Follow them on facebook for more.
“The food was so fresh and delicious,” one review said. “Ordered the mix grill platter and a crepe. The grilled chicken is the best chicken I’ve ever had. It was so tender and seasoned perfectly. The avjar sauce is perfect with the grilled meat. The sausages are delicious as well. The crepe was also the best crepe I’ve ever had. I don’t normally leave reviews, but this place was so good I’ve been thinking about it all week. Will definitely be back!”
