A quarter century of serving Tampa Bay
The early days for Metro Charities were rough with too few clients, little revenue, yet plenty of work. Fundraisers were always important in keeping Metropolitan Charities afloat, and the members of King of Peace church were very supportive.

Space in the church was provided to Metropolitan Charities, but it was very small and soon became extremely over crowded. It was clear that more space was greatly needed in order for the organization to grow.
Today, Metropolitan Charities is a comprehensive social service agency that meets the needs of the HIV-affected, GLBT and other at–risk communities of Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties. They serve over 2,000 people at any one time, through substance abuse treatment and prevention, counseling, case management, prevention services, a thrift store, and social and recreational programs. Metropolitan Charities employs over 50 dedicated staff members that serve the community with dignity and compassion.
