Kuba Cocina opens new restaurant in St. Pete Beach

Kuba Cocina, one of the most celebrated restaurants in Tampa, will expand with new locations in both St. Pete Beach and Seminole Heights. The St. Pete Beach location officially opens on Saturday, May 15 from 8am-6pm.

Felicia Lacalle wrote the following in the soft open announcement:

“What does “softly” mean? It means we’re still getting our feet wet and have a limited menu to start. But don’t fret! That limited menu is full of 🔥 items like our lobster empanadas + salchipapa + Cuban fried rice + plantain-crusted snapper sandwich + Cuban sandwich (duh) + MORE!”

Chef Felicia Lacalle makes cuban classics with a “soul food” spin. The restaurant departed from its spot inside Armature Works, a massive food hall in Tampa Heights, at the end of February, and just recently announced that it would take over the old Refinery space at 5137 N Florida Avenue in Seminole Heights.

“This concept will be a slight departure from Kuba as it will have more extensive offerings from top to bottom (literally!)… SO, we are mulling over new names. We have a couple ideas in mind but would LOVE your thoughts,” wrote the Kuba ownership in an announcement on Facebook.

“We couldn’t be more excited for our future… between the beach and now the Heights we have a lot on our plates (pun intended 😉) — and we can’t wait to take you along on the journey.”

Kuba Cocina’s St. Pete Beach concept can be found at 7525 Blind Pass Rd. Visitors at that location will be able to enjoy ample amounts of Sangria in nifty Capri Sun-style pouches.

From its inception, Kuba has been renowned for its Cuban sandwich featuring house roasted pork, jamon dulce, Swiss cheese, pickles, special sauce all on La Segunda Cuban bread. You can also indulge in guava and cream cheese empanadas, salchipapa, tostones and more. You can see a full menu on Kuba’s website.
