What do songs like “Take Me Home, Country Road,” “You’re So Vain,” and “Lean on Me,” have in common? As hits of the 1970s, they were played repeatedly on radio stations nationwide. These songs, and those like them in the ‘70s, were – and still are – sung word-for-word by millions of Americans.
The new live show “Polyester Please!” gives audiences of all ages the opportunity to go beyond the radio and gather in person be transported back to the 70s as the the Festive Florida Singers, a local company of seasoned musical theatre performers, bring the era to life with top hits, trivia and memories, at one of the coolest outdoor musical venues in St. Petersburg – Cage Brewing. With one of the best sound systems and brewery food and beverage options in the area, Cage Brewing, 2001 1st Ave S, brings a wide variety of musical acts to St Pete.
“’Polyester Please!’ transports audiences to the decade of cassette tapes, bell bottoms, and big hair in a two-hour show,” Stacie Steinke, creator and lead singer of the Festive Florida Singers, said. “It’s a blast. Audiences rock out by singing along, dancing, and dressing up to the best the ‘70s offered in soft rock, disco, rock, and punk. ’Polyester Please!’ is a love-letter to those of us who were lucky to grow up in a time when you had to move off the couch to change the channel, and community required sharing physical time and space while listening to music,” Steinke said.
