We all know that learning is more fun when you’re drinking with friends. Nerd Nite operates in over a hundred cities around the globe including our city – St. Pete! This lecture event strives for an inebriated, salacious, yet deeply academic vibe. Several presenters totally geek out for 20 minutes each while guests drink and socialize. It’s like Ted Talk– with beer! Drink, learn, connect, and talk about fun, interesting stuff!
Doors open at 6:30pm. Presentations begin promptly at 7pm.
Tickets are $6.91 in advance. All tickets will be sold online. And we always sell out!
All proceeds from Nerd Nite October will be donated to local disaster relief and recovery efforts.
Show your ticket on your phone or just give us your name and we will check you in.

Times Over Time: The secret sauce to a life of strategic serendipity
Alexis believe a life well lived, a business that sells itself, and an abundance of cherished relationships are all shaped not by constant action, but by short, meaningful moments spread out over time. Whether it’s a quick coffee catchup after years apart or a spontaneous burst of creative collaboration, these deep, shared experiences produce lasting impact. Sometimes, it only takes a few minutes to change everything. Often, it takes a lifetime to realize that is the case. Take part in the Nerd Nite session that doubles as one of your “times over time” with Alexis and others.
Alexis Baum hates bios, but loves people’s stories. She’s got stories of living, working and studying across 50 countries and then learning to lead like a local since she landed here in St. Pete just 4 years ago. She’ll openly admit she’s a recovering perfectionist and then proceed to tell you stories of her journey from math nerd to theatre nerd to design nerd to learning nerd. Her extroverted personality and divergent brain makes tightly timed presentations her ultimate nemesis. It’s a good thing that throwing herself into new challenges is her ultimate addiction or she would never have considered being a nerd nite speaker.

How to Colonize Venus, because doing things the hard way is more fun
An imaginative, innovative, and hopefully inspiring tutorial on what it would take for humans to live on Venus. When the only limit is the capacity of your imagination the possibilities for Earth’s twin planet are endless. From releasing toxic gasses to basically freezing the planet this presentation will show you how to do it all in 5 easy steps!
As a self-proclaimed enthusiast of anything and everything, I love to learn. From being the annoying kid who asks too many questions in class to spiraling down rabbit holes of interest based research, my goal in life is to never stop learning. There is nothing your mind can’t do, unless you tell it not to!

Jason is a true nerd who first learned how to code in 8th grade on an Apple 2E computer and knew this would be his career. “Slightly” older now, he leads teams in building enterprise software products. He and his wife live here in sunny St. Pete with their 2 dogs. In 2013 Jason learned about an amazing website that allows you to make a direct impact on someone a world away, and has been telling people about it ever since.
