“From Folk Medicines to Therapeutic Drugs” – Free Seminar

On Wednesday, April 17, Dr. Akiko Tanaka, president and co-founder of The Tampa Bay Research Institute (TBRI) will present a free seminar titled “From Folk Medicines to Therapeutic Drugs” at First Presbyterian Church, 701 Beach Dr. NE, St. Petersburg. TBRI has spent over 40 years investigating the relationship between viruses, cancers, and the functioning of the immune system. As a result of their research, TBRI has uncovered the details of the healing properties of an ancient folk medicine – an extract of pine cones. Their on-going studies have now brought forth new synthetic molecules that are being developed into lifesaving immune-altering therapeutics.

The 5:30 PM seminar is part of the Beach Drive Forums, a series of conversations on thought-provoking topics, offered by First Presbyterian Church.
