BurGala™ 2023 celebrates the Rhythms of the Afro-Diaspora. We will vibe and sway to demonstrations of dance that borrow Afro beats in the creation of unique sounds found in cultures from Africa to Spain to the Caribbean to Brazil to the United States. Our very special guest Dr. Charles B. Dew, who grew up in segregated St Petersburg in the 1900s, will speak about his book ‘The Making of a Racist: A Southerner Reflects on Family, History, and the Slave Trade’ .
New this year will be the presentation of our Leadership In Forging Transformation (LIFT) Award to five local area movers and shakers across a variety of disciplines who are making a difference in the lives of others (see below).
