Brooklyn South Deli is cheese central
Brooklyn South Deli was founded by Matt Bonano, who held a lifelong passion for cheese, and his love for the food will melt your heart. The Brooklyn transplant has remained enthusiastic about the booming EDGE District. The influx of new residential buildings, and myriad cocktail bars and restaurants, and community events have put Brooklyn South near the nucleus of St. Pete’s growth.
In 2020, the business was sold to a new family, and the cheese shop itself is now managed by Christine Harrelson.
Back when Brooklyn South first opened, the original was omitted with the Sunshine City. “We fell in love with the place. We had a vision,” said Bonano. “St. Petersburg is exploding with a lot of culture. It’s also getting a lot younger. There are more foodies and people who travel around and enjoy fine foods. People are realizing it’s not just a retirement area anymore.”
