Bayboro Brewing’s Memorial Day BBQ bash returns this weekend

People outside at Bayboro Brewing

Bayboro Brewing, a veteran-owned brewery in the Warehouse Arts District, keeps a running tab all year where guests can buy a veteran a beer. On Memorial Day, that tab opens up, offering free beers to veterans all day long, complete with an aircraft-carrier sized extravaganza to match it.

All are invited when the Memorial Day BBQ kicks off at noon on Monday, May 29 in Bayboro’s tasting room, and festivities include fresh-smoked BBQ, live music, a raffle, silent auction, glass artwork created by veterans, the open tab for veterans, and of course, plenty of great food and beer for everyone.

The annual bash at Bayboro Brewing serves a dual purpose, not just as a celebration and tribute to veterans, but as a fundraiser to help support them locally. Proceeds from the day will go to great groups, including Signatures For Soldiers, a non-profit lending support to disabled and homeless veterans, and the Operation: Art of Valor program from No Good Needs. Glass art on display will be pieces created by those participating in the Art of Valor program.

Music kicks off at 2 pm with Cross Junction taking the stage all afternoon. In addition to the BBQ, Bayboro’s kitchen will be open all day, as well. Pro tip: their fried chicken sandwich is one of the best in town.

And for those who like to earn their BBQ and beer, CrossFit9 is hosting a Memorial Day “Murph” workout before the BBQ bash. Participants will hear from Signatures For Soldiers before the workout benefitting Signatures For Soldiers, and all participants will get a free beer afterward at Bayboro. Learn more here.

The Memorial Day event is free to attend and open to all ages. Learn more about Bayboro Brewing and its history in our story on them here.
