St. Petersburg is one of the most dog-friendly cities in America, touting great concessions and play areas for pooches while you unwind with a drink. USA Today just released its list of the nominees for Best Dog Bar in America, and St. Pete’s own The Dog Bar (2300 Central Ave) in the Grand Central District, has been nominated. Cast your vote for Dog Bar here. Polls close on Monday, June 24 and winners will be announced on July 23.
“The Dog Bar is a combination of a private off-leash dog park and a full-service sports bar. Watch your dog play while you enjoy your favorite beverage!” according to Dog Bar’s website.

The Dog Bar continues: “Our unique concept is all about the dogs and we require our doggie patrons to have a membership, this helps us ensure that all of our pups are healthy and non-aggressive. The bar offers more than 5,000 sq. ft. of off-leash indoor & outdoor areas for pups with separate areas for low energy dogs from the large play area.”
Register your pup / “pupperoncini” and enjoy The Dog Bar
If your pup, or as I call them, “pupperoncini”—a portmanteau of puppy and pepperoncini—doesn’t do well with crowds or high energy, The Dog Bar offers quiet corners. And for the humans, the covered patio has 20+ bar stools, 7 tables, 20 TVs, 31 craft beers, a full liquor bar, a lounge tucked into the backroom, and there’s always a food truck slinging delicious, local eats next door.
The Dog Bar does require membership, and proof of vaccination and non-aggression to ensure that all dogs play safely together. Learn more about memberships and register your little “pupperoncini” here.
