T’s and Tacos is a hotspot for late-night eats downtown

T’s and Tacos is a hotspot for late-night eats downtown

People drinking and dining outdoors

The Jannus Block has added yet another destination for food and drink, and this one is open deep into the night. T’s and Tacos at Jannus Live had its grand opening earlier this month at 226 1st Avenue North, showcasing quick and tasty eats in the heart of downtown.

The restaurant and bar, in the walk-up space formerly home to Cap’s Steamer Bar, is dishing up an incredible array of Mexican eats with Caribbean flair, such as lobster quesadillas, jerk chicken street tacos, conch ceviche and plenty more, all available until 3 am on weekends, alongside a full cocktail menu and frozen daiquiri bar. T’s and Tacos is open 5 pm – 3 am Thursday-Saturday, and 5-10 pm on Sundays.

T’s and Tacos is not only open for dinner and serving food until closing, but they also offer walk-up package beer and liquor. After launching with a shortened soft opening menu, T’s and Tacos has debuted its full range of offerings, featuring a variety of street tacos, burritos, egg rolls, nachos, street corn, fish dip, and the aforementioned lobster quesadillas and conch ceviche.

The lobster quesadilla and conch ceviche are actually part of the restaurant’s connection to the late legend Jimmy Buffett. T’s and Tacos has tapped Bahamian chef Fran Rolle to help lead the kitchen, who used to cook for Buffett at one of his favorite Bahamian haunts, Sip Sip on Harbour Island. The two dishes were Buffett’s favorite, and they were staples Rolle knew she wanted to showcase at T’s and Tacos. Rolle had already planned to make the lobster quesadilla and conch ceviche features of the new menu, and Buffett’s unfortunate passing cemented her plan to honor the icon.

Specialties from the kitchen are all made fresh, including hand-made tortillas and egg rolls, and authentic Mexican sauces and salsas made in-house. T’s and Tacos also plans to roll out regular specials, such as lobster spring rolls and conch tacos. The restaurant will also be open on nights of shows at Jannus Live, and will even serve directly in the amphitheater space through its backdoor opening onto the concert floor.

In addition to great eats and drinks on site, T’s and Tacos will also sell package beer and liquor until 2:45 am Thursday-Saturday. The restaurant and bar will soon launch mobile ordering, as well, with a pickup window and even curbside service to come.
