Join us for an engaging discussion with Dr. Robert Drapkin, one of Tampa Bay’s foremost collectors, Jason Wyatt, Director of Collections Management, and Dr. Stanton Thomas, Chief Curator, as they explore the exhibition True to the Tint: The Quest for Color Photography. On view through September 22, this exhibition showcases extraordinarily rare early photographs that were either hand-tinted or produced through now-lost color processes from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
This artful conversation will delve into the exhibition’s creation, the collection of the works, and the obsolete color processes used to produce these images. It will also address the technical challenges of displaying these photographs. Additionally, attendees will gain insights into iconic artists and images featured in the exhibition, such as E.G. Barnhill’s vibrant photographs of Florida sunsets and Rudolph Eickemeyer’s luminous portrait of Evelyn Nesbit.
