Unholy Comedy Show is an immersive night of R-rated stand-up comedy, audience tarot readings, music, oddities and more. 2023 Creative Loafing’s Best Of The Bay Winning show is back for their special 2 year anniversary show (in time for Halloween) at one of the most unique theaters in Downtown St. Petersburg. Hosted by comedians Hugh Carey and Lauren Gray (as seen at Roast Battle with Jeff Ross at the Comedy Store), guests are invited to venture into the ethereal abyss where laughter intertwines with the mysterious, where jesters become seers, and reality morphs into something delightfully sinful. Dress in costume or to impress.
Headlining this special 2 year anniversary show is Johnny B. and Dick Ruse:
For over 23 years, Johnny Bell has been entertaining comedy crowds around the country with a style that can be considered aggressive, logical, offensive, and level-headed all at the same time. It’s easy to simply get on stage and say controversial things, but Johnny attacks absurd life experiences–especially his own– with a critical eye that finds humor from different angles. He’s a dad, he’s been divorced twice, sang in bands, managed a night club, was a poker pro, and recently published his first book. And all of those perspectives make for hilarious observations on stage that keeps crowds laughing. He was voted Best Comedian in Tampa Bay in 2016, 2017, and 2022.
When Johnny B isn’t behind the microphone at a comedy club–he’s shared the stage with comedy greats such as Mitch Hedberg and Ralphie May–he’s behind the microphone for terrestrial radio: As the winner of Cox Media’s “Tampa Bay’s Got Talent” search, he can be heard weeknights on in his 10th year of “The Johnny B Show” on 102.5 The Bone FM in the Tampa market.
Dick Ruse:
Dick is a degenerate tattooer who’s stand up is far from conventional. His irreverent point of view is one of a kind in a world of the same old. He’s brought his alternative act to every stage from club and college gigs to dive bars and tattoo conventions.
Always a crowd favorite, you may not recognize his face but his writing has been featured front page on FunnyorDie.com for contributions to YouTube sensation Zebra Corner. (YouTube.com/zebracorner) Zebra Corner is known for their unforgiving parody’s of Chevys “Real people, not actors” commercials and has grown from a few hundred subscribers to 1 million in a years time. Dick was recently named “Best Up and Coming Comedian” in Tampa Bay by Creative Loafing and mentioned as a St. Pete favorite by ILovetheBurg.com He is a regular guest on top rated Tampa radio The Johnny B show on 102.5 The Bone FM.
His unique blend of crude, crass and clever has been seen all over the country. He was a recent headliner at the Portland Comedy Festival in Portland Maine, and a Roast Battle winner at the world famous Comedy Store in LA . Dick has appeared with Jim Florentine, Brad Williams, Big Jay Oakerson Randy and Mr. Lahey from Trailer Park Boys You may have heard him (once) on The Doug Stanhope Shotclog Podcast.
