M.C. Escher Exhibit @ The Dali Museum (All Weekend)
This special exhibition will highlight M.C. Escher, a renowned 20th century artist, whose visual illusions puzzle and delight audiences worldwide, and is best known for his “impossible constructions” and use of tessellation. The exhibit will be on display through January 3. The robust exhibit will feature 135 works covering Escher’s entire artistic career, including an array of his most recognizable works such as “Drawing Hands,” “Reptiles” and “Waterfall” alongside rarely exhibited early drawings of family members, panoramas of exotic landscapes and historic architecture of Italy and Spain, original preparatory sketches, mezzotints and more. Damon Fowler Group – CD Release Party @ Palladium Theater
After spending much of the past year touring with the band Southern Hospitality, The monster roots, rock, blues and sacred steel player and Florida native, Damon Fowler returns with his band to Tampa Bay’s most intimate blues stage, the Side Door. Fowler chose swamp blues master Tab Benoit to produce and record him at Benoit’s Louisiana home studio for his most recent recording Sounds of Home, and their collaboration resulted in Fowler’s strongest effort to date. The tension between his measured, laid-back vocal delivery and the hallmark intensity of his guitar and lap steel virtuosity has never been keener, and the stories told in his songwriting here – a collaboration in part with longtime writing partner Ed Wright and Benoit – exhibit a combination of depth, grace and humor very few of his contemporaries can match. 8pm. $15 in advance, $20 day of show. Due to inclement weather conditions the Sundial Fashion Show has been postponed. The event has been moved to Friday, Dec. 11. This Saturday the Sundial helps St. Pete officially kick off the holiday season with a high-production fashion show! The Sundial Style event will feature a 30 foot long runway in the courtyard. Models will showcase the lastest in designer fashion available at Diamonds Direct, Jackie Z, Chico's, Florida Jean, Tracy Negoshian, John Craig, Juxtapose and more. The event will be hosted by Heather Thomson, a celebrated fashion designer, philanthropist and former cast member of Bravo TV's Real Housewives of New York. St. Pete resident-actress Eugenie Bondurant, who appears as Tigris in the highly anticipated The Hunger Games – Mockingjay Part II, will participate in the fashion show fresh off of walking the red carpet at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles. Also participating are Tampa Bay Rowdies players Juan Guerra, Zac Portillos, Tamika Mkandawine and Keith Savage along with model Tari Elegele, who is currently filming the reality show “Soccer Moms of Tampa Bay,” set to air in early 2016. Public Walking Mural Tour
