Summer of Rum Festival (Sept. 1 & 2) FEW TICKETS LEFT!


The 6th annual Summer of Rum Festival is right around the corner. Spend Labor Day Weekend, September 1st and 2nd in downtown Tampa at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park sipping on rum and enjoying some fun under the sun. This 2-day event includes live music, featuring Sugar Ray and the Wailers as headliners; over 40 rum drinks, a curated Caribbean Food Market, a rum tasting party and a fireworks show. Saturday hours are from noon – 11pm and Sunday hours are from 11am – 9:30pm.

Hatch Green Chile Roasting
Numex we be doing a Mini “Hatch Chile Roasting” so stop by for some dinner, drinks and roasted green chiles….. season will be over before you know it. So get your chile freeze on! Selling chile @ $5/pd “Roasted” (Big Jim Variety) which are great for stuffing Chile Rellenos and everything else. 6-8pm.

Fort DeSoto Beach Cleanup
Set up just North of the Fort DeSoto Fishing Pier at 8am. The cleanup will focus on the beach area north and south of the pier, as well as by the rocks near the fishing pier where large amounts of debris can become trapped. 4Ocean will be providing all materials needed for volunteers at the cleanup including hemp bags and gloves. There will be a cooler of water available for all volunteers, but we ask that you please bring a reusable water bottle with you to reduce the number of cups needed! 8-10am.

8th Annual Great St. Pete Cupcake Contest
The Morean Arts Center invites you to compete in a city-wide search for St. Petersburg’s Best Cupcake! All attendees are requested to enjoy their cupcakes on property. 12-3pm.

Make A Pen From Harry Potter Wood
Wood salvaged from the floorboards of Main Hall at Christchurch College. Used as the set for the Great Hall scenes in Harry Potter. Comes with a COA! 11am-3pm.

Cut for a Cure Tailgate
Big Storm Brewing Co. is partnering with the Tampa Bay Rowdies to host a Cut for a Cure Tailgate party benefiting the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF)! The Big Storm and Rowdies teams will be raising money leading up to the tailgate where they’ll shave, cut or color their hair Rowdies colors Fans can also donate to shave, cut or color their hair rowdies colors at the tailgate! And tarting today, Big Storm will be donating $1 from every pint of Kick in the Grass sold to NPCF. So stop by the taproom any day to help raise money for this awesome cause! 5-7:30pm.

Women’s Equality Day Service / Unite for Justice Solidarity Walk
Join the greater Tampa Bay community for a “Women’s Equality Day” Sunday morning service in downtown St. Petersburg. Feminist spirituality, the role of government–including the courts–in reaching gender equity, and lifting up women’s voices in song and poetry will all be on tap. 10:30am-1pm.

Shakespeare In A Day: Midsummer Scenes
Studio Shakespeare – Selected scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream featuring cast members of the upcoming Shakespeare in the City production in Williams Park. Shakespeare in a day! The cast rehearses for 8 hours and performs the same evening. This reading is the second of a three part collaboration between The Studio@620 and St. Petersburg Shakespeare Festival, part of the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance Individual Artist Award.
