Archaeology Hike
Take a walk through the early history of Weedon Island to learn about the indigenous cultures that dominated this coastal part of Pinellas County thousands of years ago. This guided tour will take participants on a 2 mile hike to visit an active archaeological dig site on the Preserve. Dr. John Arthur, AWAIRE board member and University of South Florida anthropology professor in charge of the field site, will give a brief talk on past and current archaeological research being conducted at Weedon Island Preserve.  9-11a.m.

St. Petersburg Jazz Festival
The jazz festival features Latin Jazz from The Gabriel Hernandez Trio, the 18-piece Helios Jazz Orchestra with singers Chuck Wansley & Whitney James, original jazz inspired by Israel from the Tal Cohen Trio, the awesome Shawn Brown playing Hammond B3 with his group and the rising star vocalist Veronica Swift with Jeff Rupert and his group.

5th Annual St. Petersburg Fine Art Festival (Sat and Sun)

The art festival transforms the grounds of South Straub Park into an outdoor gallery showcasing extraordinary original and handmade artwork. These artisans and their works weave a tapestry of art from creations in painting, glass, mixed-media, ceramics, sculpture, photography, metalwork, digital art, fiber art, woodworking – and more. Within each medium explore a diversity of styles, materials and creative vision. Know that many of these artisans are represented in America’s top museums and art galleries and their works found in the most prestigious private collections in America. Free admission. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Southeastern Guide Dogs Walkathon
Participants will enjoy a 3K walk, music, local vendors, our Southeastern Guide Dogs Gift Shop, and family-friendly fun! And most importantly of all, this will raise funds to open new doors of independence for people with vision loss and veterans with disabilities and offer them our gift of the best guide dogs and service dogs in the world. Begins 8:30a.m.

Show your love of flamingos and celebrate the young flock’s birthday! Wear pink for $1 off admission!
