Castello Banfi Tuscany Wine Dinner
St. Pete residents have a chance to attend an exclusive event, open to the public, at Marchand’s at The Vinoy Renaissance Resort & Golf Club. The event will be held on Monday, April 28 from 7pm – 9pm and is hosted by Luciano Castiello from Castello Banfi Tuscany, this rare opportunity is a chance to be immersed in Italy for one night and enjoy some fantastic food and wine. Engage St. Pete

The Rwandan Genocide: 20 Years Later
Clemantine Wamariya was six when genocide erupted in her native Rwanda and she lost many members of her family. She and her 16 year old sister Claire were separated from their parents but managed to survive, living in numerous refugee camps in seven different African countries over the next six years before they arrived in Chicago. Sunscreen Film Festival Opening Day & Night
With multiple venues across St. Petersburg, the Sunscreen Film Festival will screen nearly 150 films this year out of more than 500 submissions — more than has ever been received! Selections in close to 100 shorts and documentary shorts, 12 features, 16 documentary features and 24 animated shorts. The 2014 festival showcases foreign and local filmmakers, as well as students from our film camps, the University of Tampa and the Creative Clay Cultural Arts Center. First 4 screenings are FREE and open to the public. 12:30-7:30pm. Opening night film starts at 8pm. $10 for movie only or $40 for pre-film red carpet reception + film + post-film reception at NOVA 535.

M. Ward @ The State Theatre

EDGE District Market
EDGE District Market has returned to the EDGE District of downtown St. Petersburg the first Thursday of every month. St. Pete District Markets, a project of non-profit Fresh Food For All, will produce the EDGE District Market, every first Thursday on 11th Street North from Central to 1st Ave N, from 3-8pm. Join and celebrate the return of the Tampa Bay Rays at this special game night market! EDGE District Market is the first evening market St. Pete District Markets has launched, with plans to open three more mid-week evening Markets by June 2014. St. Pete District Markets is a collective of community farmers markets that will rotate weekly throughout the neighboring Districts of downtown St. Petersburg, every Thursday from 308pm. Rain or shine, year-round, St. Pete District Markets hopes to inspire and celebrate a happy, healthy, sustainable St. Petersburg community. Vendor booths are now available at a low rate of $25 for Tents, $15 for Tables, and $40 for Food Trucks. Vendors are required to register and provide their own tent, table, and battery-powered lighting. 11th Street North from Central to 1st Ave N.

Living Room Live
Back to its originally scheduled timeslot, Hideaway Cafe is happy to announce its weekly Thursday night writers' night, Living Room Live! Hosted by Rebekah Pulley, doors open at 5pm for happy hour and dinner specials. Music runs from 7-10pm

Story Time for Families
Join the Dali in the education classroom for story time featuring selected books from the Dali Museum library and store. 11am-1pm.
Opera at the Dali Museum
Experience opera at The Dali, a collaboration with St. Petersburg College. Opera at the Dali introduces audiences to emerging opera artists through dynamic 20-minute performances every month. Performances are free to the public. Opera is performed from the Spiral Staircase. Stefanie Mitchell is a first year vocal performance major at St. Petersburg College, under the direction of Dr. Marilyn Michael. She is a member of SPC Madrigalians, a select group of choral singers under the direction of Dr. Vernon Taranto. In addition, she is the mezzo-soprano section leader/soloist at Christ United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg. Stefanie is also majoring in educational studies at St. Petersburg College-a 4 year degree in which she will graduate next year. The Opera Performance Series is sponsored by Leonard & Barbara McCue. 6pm.

The Mikado
This classic masterpiece of silliness and satire will take you to a politically incorrect, fictional version of feudal Japan, which may or may not look anything like Japan, for an evening of tomfoolery and visual decadence. When Nanki-Poo, the son of the Mikado (the emperor of Japan) visits the town of Titipu in disguise to profess his love for the beautiful Yum-Yum, deadly comic intrigues ensue. Ultimately, this side-splitting satire on imperialism and bureaucracy ends in a series of sublimely ridiculous executions and weddings. With such beloved G & S classics as “A Wand'ring Minstrel,” “Three Little Maids,” “The Sun Whose Rays,” and “Tit-Willow” this lavish production will delight audiences of all ages.
