Plume Poetry Presents: Tess Gallagher
Tess Gallagher, long considered among America’s – indeed the world’s – most acclaimed poets, essayists, and short story writers, is the author of Midnight Lantern: New and Selected Poems, Moon Crossing Bridge, Dear Ghosts, The Man From Kinvara: Selected Short Stories. Her Soul Barnacles: Ten More Years With Ray, a “bittersweet collection of diary entries, memoirs, essays, letters, and poetry that celebrates the marriage and literary partnership with her late husband Raymond Carver,” one of America’s most celebrated fiction writers. Gallagher will be joined for an introductory reading of a collaborative work with her long-time friend Lawrence Matsuda. Born in the Minidoka Internment Camp in 1945, Matsuda is a well-known poet in his own right (A Cold Wind From Idaho) and a social activist and lecturer on the heritage and causes of Asian-Americans. “Home” An Earth Day Film Screening
Celebrate Earth Day and learn how to protect our HOME! Through visually stunning footage from over fifty countries, all shot from an aerial perspective, Yann Arthus-Bertrand shows us a view most of us have never seen. He shares with us his sense of awe about our planet and his concern for its health. With this film, Arthus-Bertrand hopes to provide a stepping-stone to further the call to action to take care of our HOME. Our Town Conversations: Tom James
Our Town is a once-a-month conversation with a notable St. Pete mythmaker. Host Dr. Carol Mickett, philosopher and artist, will converse with these local heroes about their visions, accomplishments, and contributions to shaping the identity of our town. Where else but at the Dali Museum – which showcases the mythmaking of artist Salvador Dali – to honor the people of our city and its surroundings who are building the greatness which is St. Petersburg? Hideaway Café: Living Room Writer’s Night
