Warehouse Arts District/Deuces Live Joint Action Plan – Design Studio Workshop – Day 1
The Design Studio Workshop is a four-day, on-site studio event. The purpose of the workshop will be to foster a highly collaborative approach to initial concept design exploration. Topics will include brand characteristics, gateways and signage graphics, streets and public realm, and other community themes and guiding ideas identified during Discovery. The work will include specific focus on the Deuces Live Main Street, the Warehouse Arts District, and the ‘Joint Planning Area’ at 22nd street and 5th Avenue South. On Monday, the team will summarize the goals for the workshop series, present findings to date, conduct an interactive exercise and give design assignments to team and participants. 6-8pm. Jason Frilot’s Old Soul Open Mic at Iberian Rooster

Sacred Art Tour of Tibetan Monks – Opening Ceremonies at Florida CraftArt
Eight Tibetan monks from the Drepung Gomang Monastery in India will bring teachings of ancient ways and beliefs that create the possibility of global peace, non-violent conflict resolution, compassion and wisdom. This visit is part of the monk’s nationwide 2017 Sacred Arts Tour, formed to share and preserve the spiritually artistic expression of the Tibetan culture. The monks demonstrate and express their peaceful ways through living art, ritual, dance and chanting. The tour will be at Florida CraftArt from Jan. 31-Feb. 5. Opening Ceremonies begin at 10am on Tuesday, Jan. 31. There will be chanting daily from 10am-4pm, as well as the Sand Art Mandala creation daily from 10am-4pm. Elixir of Love at The Palladium
The poor peasant Nemorino and beautiful landowner Adina are destined to fall in love in Gaetano Donizetti’s bubbling bel canto comedy. All that’s needed is the quack Dr. Dulcamara to provide the elixir and a pompous sergeant Belcore to provide some competition. These four characters will delight and entertain you as the story twists and turns and ultimately delivers the famous tenor aria “Una furtiva lagrima” before the couple unites. Blake Friedman (Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia) plays the lovestruck Nemorino. Bridgette Gan sings the role of the wealthy Adina, Christopher Holloway (Escamillo in SPO’s Carmen) sings the ridiculous Belcore and Ryan Allen will be the flim-flam salesman Dr. Dulcamara. An Evening with Pat Metheny at The Mahaffey
Twenty-time Grammy winning guitarist Pat Metheny presents a range of music from throughout his storied career, joined by drummer Antonio Sanchez, bassist Linda Oh & keyboardist Gwilym Simcock. The show, Metheny says, “could really be anything and everything … with Antonio, Linda and Gwilym, I think we could and will do a wide range of things from throughout all of it – and maybe uncover what the next period has in store as well.” 7:30pm. The Witch’s 6th Anniversary Party
The Witch turns 6 years old and in traditional fashion the Anniversary party is held on the First Thursday of February. They’ll be selling their 2017 anniversary glass (only 200 available).
