Violet Stone began as a wildly popular food truck before expanding into a brick-and-mortar location last year. They make some of the best pizzas in the region, and their cheesesteaks have become legendary. Their popularity has grown so much that they’re now preparing to move operations to the corner of 26th Avenue and Dr. MLK Jr. St N, taking over the old Neighborhood Joe location.
Very soon, demolition will begin to remove the walls between the former Neighborhood Joe and the neighboring cigar shop, creating a 2,000-square-foot space—double the size of their current location at 2134 9th Ave. N.

They’re also doubling their kitchen equipment, which the owners hope will allow them to triple production. Owner Daniel Fekete reports that he currently sells out of everything early each day. While selling out daily isn’t the worst problem for a restaurateur, the additional equipment will ensure everyone has a fair chance to grab a sandwich or a slice.
What else can customers expect at the new Violet Stone?
I ask Dan what else customers can expect in the new spot. “Air conditioning! Air conditioning,” Dan says. “I can’t stress that enough. I don’t know how we’ve managed for so long without it.A cleaner building and getting food out on time,” he adds.
Customers can also look forward to exciting new additions to the menu, with Dan hinting at roast pork and pastas. Whatever they choose to add, he plans to introduce them in phases, ensuring they don’t get ahead of themselves.
