In observance of Equal Pay Day, Business and Professional Women/St. Petersburg-Pinellas is hosting its 19th annual Unhappy Happy Hour on Tuesday, March 15 from 5-7:30 pm at Rococo Steakhouse. Equal Pay Day represents the number of days into the new year that a woman must work in order to earn the same as their male counterpart in the previous calendar year. The March 15th date was chosen to represent all women’s equal pay day, however when broken down by race or income level, the dates vary greatly.
There is no cost to attend, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be provided. There will also be a cash bar available. No reservations or RSVPs are required, and guests are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

BPW leads the way on equal rights for women
BPW is a nationwide organization founded in 1919, and BPW/St. Petersburg-Pinellas was formed in 1966. As the first organization to focus on issues of working women, BPW is historically a leader in activism, policy influence and advocacy for millions of working women. The BPW network includes tens of thousands of members of diverse ages, races, occupations and politics.
One of the first women’s organizations to endorse the Equal Rights Amendment in 1937, BPW has been a successful leader in promoting and supporting legislation affecting working women ever since. In addition, BPW educates its members on policy issues and provides them the tools to become effectively involved in policy development in their own workplaces and in grassroots efforts at the local, state and federal levels.
A number of special events are held throughout the year to raise funds for scholarships, local charitable organizations and other causes relevant to working women. We are committed to coalition-building with other like-minded organizations in the community, including the major educational institutions, the League of Women Voters, Girls, Incorporated of Pinellas, The PACE Center for Girls, YWCA Tampa Bay, and more.
