Around the World in 80 Days

Marc Brown retells Jules Verne’s timeless adventure “Around the World in 80 Days” presented by American Stage Theater, directed by Todd Olson. With just eighty days to travel the entire globe, explorer Phileas Fogg and his faithful sidekick must complete the impossible! This show promises all of the classic moments, with a twist—as just five actors will portray all 39 characters in this famous story! Showing run from March 21st to April 13th at 8pm with matinees at 3pm. Tickets range from $29-$59.

A young up-and-coming director of a nonprofit art group faces the challenges of modern day life: running her own organization, planning her wedding, and keeping her morals in a world full of corruption. This diverse cast of characters includes everyone from a tempting billionaire benefactor to an abused homeless woman seeking refuge. Showing on March 24th at 7pm. Tickets “Pay What You Can”: a $10-$20 donation is recommended.

29th Annual American Stage in the Park: THE WIZ


Dorothy is going to the Land of Oz and she’s walking on a road paved in rock, gospel, and soul! This beloved Broadway musical – winner of 7 Tony Awards (including “Best Musical”) is a dazzling multi-cultural journey that will take you to the most fantastical places…and back home again. The perfect night for families and theatregoers to see American Stage under the stars…downtown St. Petersburg’s cool spring tradition for almost 30 years. Previews on April 9 & 10.  Opening Gala on the 11.  Runs until May 4 with performances in Demen’s Landing Park Wednesday through Sunday.  Gates open at 6pm.  Tickets from $13-$32.

Best known as a judge on Estonia’s version of “American Idol”, Mihkel Raud and freeFall Theatre present a new comedy exposing American reality TV as a modern day Roman Colosseum. Raud’s “aggressive visual style” even includes live TV feeds. This is a world premiere showing, so don’t miss it! Showing March 15-30. Tickets $39-$49.

Charlie Chaplin: The Gold Rush

Enjoy Charlie Chaplin’s classic black and white silent film that he wrote, produced, directed, and starred in! The story is centered around a humble man (Chaplin) in search of gold and romance in the Alaskan wilderness. The amazing score, also written by Mr. Chaplin himself, will be preformed by The Florida Orchestra! Showing on March 1st at 8pm. Tickets are $36.50.

Falling Down Funny! Suzanne Westenhoefer
Deemed bold, brave, and comic gold– Suzanne Westernhoefer will be at the Palladium Theater for one night only! As the first openly gay comedy act to appear on TV, Westenhoefer’s show truly is for everyone and anyone looking to get in a good laugh. She has appeared on countless programs on HBO, Bravo, Logo, and GSN. The show starts at 8pm on March 15 and benefits Metro Wellness and Community centers, as well as the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. Tickets $31- $40.

Colin Mochrie & Brad Sherwood: Two Man Group

You may recognize these two names, or a least faces, from the hit TV show Whose Line is it Anyway? Both Mochrie and Sherwood served as primary cast members of the show, which started back in 1998. The two teamed up to make a hilarious two man group. Now, they continue their highly comedy tour here in the ‘Burg! The show starts at 7pm on March 9. Tickets are $29.50 – $39.50.

This famous stand-up comedian deserves special attention for his tour called MODERN ROMANCE. Best known for his role on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, Ansari has made quite an impression on viewers across the world for his humor. This is a one night only show and can’t be missed! Show begins at 7pm and 10pm. Tickets are $38. 

Rhona Shear’s Comedy PJ Party

Comedian and underwear designer Rhonda Shear and some of her best friends will present the “world’s funniest” and most fun Pajama Party at The Mahaffey Theater and invite everyone to dress for the occasion! Expect to see one-piecers with footies, baby dolls, oversized T-shirts,two-piece glamour sets, plaid flannels and more.Theater-goers will enjoy hilarious stand-up from a group of talented talkers, signature drinks, a pre-show fashion event, a fabulous fashion showcase and a silent auction benefitting Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts. Guests have a chance to win amazing prizes.  April 18, 8pm. Tickets are $35 and $50.
