In the midst of the downtown revival sits the Burg's soon to be complete center of style, commerce and entertainment, the Sundial. While a good many businesses plan to open in late Fall and early Winter, there are some edgy new businesses you can visit right now.

We took a brief tour of the shops that are open to the public now and got to know them a little better. Whether you're looking for high-end jewelry, vintage or contemporary fashion, or a salon that will treat you from head to toe, there's a lot to get excited about.

We took a 3 question approach to acquainting ourselves with the open tenants. Here's a brief intro to the shops at Sundial.

What do you consider to be the most unique aspect of your store?

That's been the burning question. We've made our best efforts to carefully construct every piece of the store. The room we're in right now, which is a private viewing room, is designed to emulate our jewelry boxes.

We have a 3D printing station where customers can design their own rings. We've also designed pieces for our new location such as the Sundial Coin.

I'm not sure that many jewelry stores keep some of their pieces in salt water tanks with fish, either.

We also have Stella on tap for all of our customers along with Crown, champagne or water depending on what they're thirsty for.

Though, one of our favorite pieces of the store is the hand painted harlequin wall the Vitale Brothers designed for us. I think most of all what makes us stand out is our dedication to the community. We cater to blue and white collar customers and even the rockstars that come through our doors.

How do you see your store blending in with the city?

We've been operating in St. Pete for over 30 years. Our commitment to the community and remaining involved with events going on downtown run in sync with St. Pete's vibe. We've designed watches specifically for this area and have involved ourselves with several charities.

Tracy Negoshian & His

What do you consider to be the most unique aspect of your store?

Our attention to color and detail makes us stand out. We work pretty hard to create a fun and inviting atmosphere. We want customers to be in awe of what they see here. Whatever they purchase we want everyone who comes through these doors to dress in confidence.

How do you see your store blending in with the city?

We are a lifestyle brand with the Florida resident in mind. Our clothes reflect the seasons and sunshine of the city and we design each piece so customers can layer.

In one sentence can you describe what you hope customers take away from their experience at your store?

We want them to feel fabulous and inspired and that they'll love their time in the store so much they'll bring a friend next time.

Juxtapose

What do you consider to be the most unique aspect of your store?

The most unique part would be our mix of merchandise. We offer contemporary women's fashion from high-end designers,  different pieces of home decoration, books and furniture. There are a lot of interesting items here so whatever curiosity you come into the store with we hope it will be more than satisfied.

How do you see your store blending in with the city?

We definitely share the local love St. Pete has. We have one other location in Tampa and many of our items are made in the US. We're very interested in engaging with the community and being a part of events in St. Pete.

Marilyn Monroe Glamour Room

What do you consider to be the most unique aspect of your store?

We've developed our own brand here. The glamour rooms take the concept of a day spa to a whole new level. You can get a massage, have your hair done, get a facial, a manicure and a pedicure, and a high-end salon makeup experience here.

Marilyn Monroe is a luxury concept with an approachable price point. We don't have a target audience. We're here for the everyday woman and man. No matter your age or aesthetic we want to make you feel beautiful.

How do you see your store blending in with the city?

The glamour room is heavy on events and community involvement. Before we were even open we had people walk in and book parties with us. This is a very active community that has redefined what luxury means. I think we'll play a big part in underscoring St. Pete's brand of luxury.

In one sentence can you describe what you hope customers take away from their experience at your store?

We'd have to quote the store's inspiration, "imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

lululemon showroom

What do you consider to be the most unique aspect of your store?

Our culture is unlike any other. Our workout gear is certainly our store's signature but we do a lot more than just sell clothes. We feature local St. Pete artists on our walls and have partnered with local businesses to acquaint the community with what we do. We're hosting a yoga event in a couple of weeks right here at the Sundial and that event is open to the public.

How do you see your store blending in with the city?

Our first priority is to immerse ourselves in a relationship with the St. Pete community. What makes us unique is what makes us fit in the Burg community. This is such an eclectic and electric area on the rise, we think our approach is in line with the energy of the city.

In one sentence can you describe what you hope customers take away from their experience at your store?

We want customers to feel at home here, and that this becomes a place they feel comfortable shopping in and hanging out at.

White House | Black Market

White House | Black Market began in 1985 as a single, tiny neighborhood boutique in Baltimore. Back then they referred to themselves only as The White House. They offered unique, individual collections of clothing and accessories in shades of white and ivory. After rapid expansion through the 80's anfd 90's they opened the Black Market. The popularity of both shops led to the combining of both concepts.

Their greatest passion is to make women feel beautiful. What can you expect from the fashion gurus? WHBM says, "we are bold and graceful at cocktail hour, we are sophisticated and chic on the weekends, we enter a room on any given day and our hope is to brighten it. No matter what we're designing, we're always devoted to ensuring that the beauty of each piece is apparent in every single detail."

The Shave Cave

*Their soft opening will officially begin tomorrow, October 24.

What do you consider to be the most unique aspect of your store?

Offering hot towel straight razor shaves. We're trying to bring back the lost art of barbery to St. Pete. We're the only ones around here offering these kind of services. I own another company called Mens Direct and I'll be bringing a lot of the hair and facial products I sell there. We have products from Italy, Germany and Switzerland and have worked hard to source the best items for our customers. Over in the back we have a chair set up as a shoe shine station.

We'll also be offering annual memberships at Shave Cave. We just put in reclaimed post office boxes from 1958 where our members can store their personalized straight razor and facial brush. Each time they come in they can grab it and hand it to the barber. Our annual members will receive one haircut, one shave, one clean up, one shoe shine and 20% off any additional services that month and 10% off all products in the store.

How do you see your store blending in with the city?

There seems to be a desire in the city for services like this. Gentlemen looking for a place they can kick back, enjoy a beer, watch TV and get cleaned up.

In one sentence can you describe what you hope customers take away from their experience at your store?

That they felt a part of a high end mens environment with quality service and great products they'll use daily.
