The Pig is Preparing for Lift Off

The Pig is Preparing for Lift Off

Friends often asked beer-aficionados Rebecca and Joe Glass when they’d open their own taphouse. The answer: "When pigs fly!" Well, it seems that pig has sailed, because their 3700-plus square foot taphouse, the Flying Pig, is about to launch.

The Pig’s grand opening this Saturday (November 16th) kicks off at 3pm with a ceremonial cask tapping, and offers the attention-grabbing "Free Beer while supplies last" as well as free samples from their menu.

WIth over 50 brews on tap, a big menu of fresh food, seating for 118 and standing room for many more, the Pig will be able to accommodate a crowd. And its location, spread across a good chunk of the the ground floor of the funky Fusion lofts, a single block north of Tropicana Field, is pretty much assured one.

The next step, says Rebecca, is to have the city approve an addional 75-seat patio and a doggy dining permit because an important member of their family would insist.

"Our husky, Stoli," she says, "wouldn’t have it any other way."

The Flying Pig Taphouse is located at 1584 Central Avenue. Its Grand Opening is slated for this Saturday, November 16th, at 3pm.
