The viral videos of cat cafés across the globe have always kept us green with envy until Sunshine Kitty Catfe announced they were opening in the Burg. Is it opening meow? Not quite, but it’s getting close.
On a bright and beautiful Monday morning, Sunshine Kitty Catfe announced their location at 1663 1st Ave S. It’s a two-story Grand Central building only a block away from Tropicana Field. That space, once an art gallery and an executive law office will now serve a dual purpose as a cafe and temporary home for a few adoptable cats from Friends of Strays.

What is a catfe? It’s a small cafe where customers can watch and play with cats. This concept is especially enticing because Sunshine Kitty Catfe has partnered with Friends of Strays, which means all of the cats at the cafe will be up for adoption.
So it’s a bit of therapy for the customers and an initiative to help homeless kitties in the Tampa Bay area.
