The Avenue (330 1st Ave S) opened just two years before I joined the team at I Love the ‘Burg, and it quickly became a go-to, family-friendly spot in the heart of downtown St. Pete. Known for its easy-to-love menu, the restaurant embraced both local and national events, often going all out to make them memorable. Its happy hour and service industry nights were always a hit, and the wings quickly became a fan favorite. Not to mention, The Avenue frequently experimented with unique burger varieties and toppings, which were always a delicious success.

After 13 unforgettable years, The Avenue—affectionately called “The Ave” by locals—will soon close its doors. Owner Stephen Schrutt has announced that the restaurant and bar will say goodbye to its 1st Avenue South location, with the final night of service culminating in a “Last Call” party on Saturday, February 22.

The Avenue is more than just a restaurant in St. Pete

“This place has been so much more than just a restaurant and bar—it was home. A place where memories were made, good times were celebrated, and the spirit of DTSP truly came to life,” said Schrutt. “To all of our loyal customers and the hardworking teams who have been part of The Avenue family over the years, I cannot thank you enough. You made this place special. The memories made—I will cherish them always!”
