Local nonprofit star Tampa Bay Watch unveils iconic new brand identity

Local nonprofit star Tampa Bay Watch unveils iconic new brand identity

People on a beach

For more than 30 years, Tampa Bay Watch has been a leading force for good in the region, and their efforts in the realms of conservation, sustainability and education have made them a favorite for us here at I Love the Burg. This week, the celebrated nonprofit hit a major milestone, as Tampa Bay Watch officially launched and announced an iconic new brand identity.

While the organization’s fantastic work in the community and in our habitats will of course continue, this new brand showcases how Tampa Bay Watch has evolved over its decades of service and provides the community with a cohesive way to follow (and join in on) the excitement. With a new logo, updated visual identity, and a “streamlined brand architecture,” Tampa Bay Watch is launching itself into the future.

A key factor in the new branding is a modernized messaging platform, all of which highlights Tampa Bay Watch’s commitment to deepening community engagement and expanding its influence as a trusted environmental leader.

“We are excited to unveil a brand that better represents who we are today and where we’re headed,” said Dwayne Virgint, CEO of Tampa Bay Watch. “Our new identity reflects our ongoing commitment to protecting Tampa Bay’s natural resources, while also positioning us for the future as we continue to grow our programs, partnerships, and community impact.”

While the shiny new look gets most of the attention, the story of how the new branding came together is incredibly cool on its own. The new brand identity was developed in partnership with SPARK, a full-service creative agency known for developing strategic branding solutions, as part of their annual Stoked initiative.

The Stoked program provides creative services to one nonprofit organization each year, and SPARK, a renowned creative agency with deep roots in the Tampa Bay area, selected Tampa Bay Watch as this year’s Stoked recipient, recognizing the organization’s vital role in preserving the region’s natural beauty and ecological health.

“Working with Tampa Bay Watch on their rebrand was incredibly meaningful for us,” said Elliott Bedinghaus, VP of Creative at SPARK. “Their mission focused on protecting our waters and the work they do for our community is worthy of a brand that shares their full story. Through this partnership, we aimed to create a brand identity that not only honors their legacy but enables future endeavors.”

Get involved with Tampa Bay Watch

Tampa Bay Watch has long been one of our favorites, and the work they do throughout the area can’t be praised enough. From living shoreline projects to educational experiences for kids, they lead the way in conservation locally. The organization is dedicated to fostering a healthy Tampa Bay watershed through community-driven restoration projects, education programs, and outreach initiatives. We highly recommend finding a way to get involved, which you can learn more about here.

We’re excited to see the launch of this new brand identity for a pillar of the community, and can’t wait to see more and more locals jumping on board (or, more literally at times, in the water). The new branding will be rolled out across all Tampa Bay Watch platforms and communications, including their website, social media channels, and educational materials. In 2025, the updated identity will also be featured prominently at the Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center, located on the St. Pete Pier, providing visitors with an engaging and cohesive experience that aligns with the organization’s mission.
