St. Pete’s most poppin’ new shop is now open in the Grand Central District. Sunshine City Popcorn, which opened its doors in November and had an official grand opening over the weekend, is now serving heaping servings of gourmet popcorn out of its new storefront at 2533 Central Avenue.

Promising “Florida’s Finest Gourmet Popcorn,” Sunshine City Popcorn Company offers nearly 60 different flavors of craft popcorn, available in seven different sizes all the way from mini (3 cups) to extra large (110 cups). The family-owned business is run by a local family who has gained a following for the unique and tasty delights they create. All popcorns are popped and mixed daily in-house

Flavors at the shop come in all varieties, from typical butter, cheddar, and caramel, to a whole range of sweet surprises, savory stylings, and plenty of mixes. We tried the Sunshine City Smoke over the weekend (made with a cheddar base and a family-recipe smoky dry rub), and its easy to see what all the excitement is about.

Sweet flavors include Key Lime Pie, Funky Monkey (chocolate and banana), party mix, cheesecake, blueberry, puppy chow, peanut butter chocolate, Lucky Charms, and Froot Loops. More savory options come in varieties such as bacon cheddar ranch, hot garlic parmesan, fried pickle, spicy buffalo, loaded potato, and movie theater butter. See the full list of available options here.

Sunshine City Popcorn Company is open 11 am – 6 pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday; and 11 am – 9 pm on Friday and Saturday. Online ordering is also available.
