SPD made it their mission to first supply first responders, hospitals and healthcare providers with hand sanitizer in their time of need.

In response to the shortage of hand sanitizers in the local community, St. Petersburg Distillery is stepping up to help. The distillery received multiple inquiries from pharmacies, hospitals and other local groups, according to a release.

The distillery has shifted production and are utilizing their resources to help fill this community need.

St. Petersburg Distillery’s trained chemical engineers have taken guidance from the FDA and WHO for hand sanitizer production. The distillery’s plan is to make single bottles that they will distribute to the community free of charge on a drive-up basis (timing and schedule to come) and to local enforcement agencies, city offices, and our first responders. The distillery will also be producing 5-gallon drums to help meet the immediate need in community pharmacies, hospitals, and medical offices.

“It is important to St. Petersburg Distillery to take care of our business partners, as many of them are remaining open to serve the community,” the owners wrote in a Facebook post. “These include our local restaurants, hotels, and retail and grocery stores. We want to make sure these businesses continue to operate in a safe and sterile environment. With that in mind, we will be distributing hand sanitizer to those businesses as well.”

To help provide relief for those out of work, St. Pete Distillery will be offering short-term, part-time positions at the distillery to help with packaging, labeling, and disbursement. They will be following all CDC guidelines regarding workplace safety, protective gear, and public interaction.

Further communications about the distribution of the hand sanitizer is forthcoming. Follow St. Petersburg Distillery on Instagram, Facebook, and Website for more details regarding community disbursement timing and locations.
