As hurricane season intensifies, the City of St. Petersburg is offering additional opportunities for residents to pick up sandbags during non-emergency times. Sandbags will be available on the second Saturday of each month at the year-round distribution location at the Pavement and Traffic Operations Building, located at 1744 9th Ave. N.

In September, the city will extend sandbag distribution hours on two Saturdays:

  • Saturday, September 7, from 7am to 3:30pm
  • Saturday, September 14, from 7am to 3:30pm

These extended hours are designed to provide more equitable access for residents, allowing them to collect sandbags outside of regular work hours. City officials urge residents to take advantage of these times to avoid long lines when a storm is approaching.

Regular sandbag distribution hours will continue Monday through Friday and on the second Saturday of each month from 7am to 3:30pm, until further notice. During declared emergencies, distribution locations and hours will change, and updates will be available at stpete.org/Sandbags.

Each household is eligible for up to 10 sandbags. Proof of St. Petersburg residency is required to receive sandbags. Staff will be available to help seniors and others who may need assistance filling and loading their sandbags.
