The biggest and oldest shuffleboard club in the world is using its influence to help make the holidays special for kids in the ‘Burg. St. Pete Shuffleboard announced that it will be holding a children’s’ toy drive benefitting St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, running now through December 17th.

The club is asking for new, unwrapped toys that it will donate to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, who will then deliver the toys directly to children in the area. Toys can be dropped off any time during St. Pete Shuffleboard’s operating hours, but the club is hosting special donation events every Friday, beginning November 26th, as a way to thank locals for their generosity.

Open from 7-10 pm each Friday, any donors who drops off toys on these nights will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Allen Shuffleboard. Toy donors are encouraged to “Stay and Play” while getting into the holiday spirit with one of St. Pete’s oldest and most treasured pastimes.

“St. Petersburg Fire Rescue focuses our Holiday Assistance Program efforts on families who have been victims of fire or EMS incidents,” a Fire rescue representative explained. “With remaining funds, we help a number of students provided to us by City of St. Pete rec centers and elementary and middle schools. The more help and support we receive allows us to give back to the children.”

Hosting more than 1,200 members, the St. Pete Shuffleboard Club has been operating since 1924. Annual memberships start at $40 and more information can be found at stpeteshuffle.com.
