The Burg is bursting with rich culture and poignant history. It’s a city that has inspired literature’s finest minds and hosted the world’s best musicians. From our lush green parks and historic bungalows to acclaimed museums and cobblestone roads, St. Pete is a place of discovery.
St. Pete Preservation, Keep St. Pete Local and St. Pete Arts Alliance have come together to create a free event that celebrates the stories that add extra sunshine to our city. On August 3, the organizations host Keep St. Pete Special at our iconic Shuffleboard Club.
Residents invited to share their St. Pete story
Video recording stations where residents can share what they love about the Burg will be placed throughout the venue. Roundhouse Creative, St. Petersburg Preservation’s media partner, will have a camera crew onsite to interview residents about what makes St. Pete special and what qualities they feel are worth preserving.
St. Petersburg’s vibrant arts community, focus on historic preservation, support of locally owned businesses and charming traditional neighborhoods all play significant roles in making this city unlike any other.
– Jeff Schorr, Chair of the Keep St. Pete Special celebration
The recorded interviews will be used to show elected officials and community leaders why it’s important to protect the cultural characteristics that give St. Pete its special sense of place.
Muralists, good coffee, local brews and more at the event
Prolific artist, and COVE creator, Derek Donnelly, along with several other artists from the Public Art Project, will be live painting murals during the event.
Green Bench Brewing Co., Cycle Brewing, 3 Daughters Brewing and St. Petersburg Brewing Co. will supply a variety of craft beers. DJ Sugar Bear will provide tunes throughout the day. For those itching to Shuffle, the court will be open for play during the event.
