Tampa Bay’s annual Sausage Fest is the best wurst party in the region

Tampa Bay’s annual Sausage Fest is the best wurst party in the region

Tampa Bay’s wurst festival is back this March. The German American Society of Pinellas County (GASPC) hosts its annual Sausage Party on March 9 from 11am-8pm at 8098 66th Street North. Admission is $5 for non-members, and $3 for members.

Sausage Fest is billed as a celebration of the “wonderful sausage.” Organizers will have over 15 different styles of sausage from various local vendors. “And any good sausage needs a good beer, so our friends from Radeberger are sponsoring the event,” writes the German American Society team on Facebook.

Beyond just sausage, they will have Dachsund races for attendees to enjoy. A DJ will be playing live music too. Seeral local vendors will be in attendance offering everything from German desserts to popcorn.

There will also be a dance presentation from the Schuhplattler dance troupe to help set a festive tone. The Fest is totally family-friendly. You can find more information about the event, and about the GASPC online.

Origins of the GASPC: In 1951, “a humble gathering of thirteen individuals marked the inception of the German-American Society Friendship of Pinellas County,” writes the organization on its website. “Little did they know that their modest assembly would evolve into one of the most esteemed social clubs in the region within just a few years.”

Officially chartered by the Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit of the State of Florida on May 18, 1953, the Society gained recognition as a not-for-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Florida. Since then, it has continued to thrive, fostering a spirit of community, philanthropy, and cultural exchange among its members and the broader community.
