Sand, Sunshine and Substance: St. Pete Makes the Forbes Travel Guide

Sand, Sunshine and Substance: St. Pete Makes the Forbes Travel Guide

The ‘Burg has been recognized as a city in renaissiance by the Forbes Travel Guide.  From our forthcoming Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement, to our Sundial strip of luxury shops and a downtown area fueled by local pride and artistic ingenuity in all mediums this city has began to make its mark on an international scale.

The small sampling of our city included the refined delights discovered at The Birchwood. From their rooftop Canopy, waterfront view and boutique guest rooms, the new face of luxury in St. Pete continues to shine. The Chihuly Collection and the Dali Museum continue to solidify St. Pete as more than just your ordinary beach town. The simple spectacle of their exteriors paired with the rarity of their contents only enliven the burgeoning Arts scene in the ‘Burg.  It is even more delightful to see the Grand Central District nationally-recognized now for its locally-grown galleries and cross-platform dedication to the Arts.  From Painting with a Twist, to Zen Glass Stuidos, to ArtPool, Central Oddities and every nook in between, you’re hardpressed not get caught in a fit of chaotic inspiration.

Forbes did not fail to recognize the gastronomic intricacies of the ‘Burg’s new, upscale steakhouse, Rococo Steak, nor did they overlook some of the smaller restaurants making a big mark in the community such as the Cuban confections of Bodega on Central, or the visually striking and ever satisfying Taco Bus.  The bookend to ‘Burg’s noteworthy ascension may be its commitment to the craft beer scene.  Whether you call 3 Daughters, The Amsterdam, The Flying Pig, Green Bench or the Brass Tap your personal watering hole, you’re guranteed to be tasting hops that were brewed and fermented right here in the ‘Burg.

The secret’s out, although after all of this recent acclaim, it’s hard to imagine there was much left to unveil. When a city is as dedicated to its small businesses, citizens, structures and art as St. Pete is, it could only remain hidden in the shadows for so long.  We are the Sunshine City afterall.
