Royal Rumble happening inside Tropicana, WrestleMania headed to Raymond James Stadium

WWE’s two marquee events, the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania, are both set to take place in the Tampa Bay region. The Royal Rumble will take place inside Tropicana Stadium on Sunday, January 31. No fans will be allowed in attendance during the event.

WWE will continue to tape its Raw and SmackDown ThunderDome shows inside Tropicana, too. Then, WrestleMania is set to take place in Tampa at Raymond James Stadium. It will be a two-night event on Saturday, April 10, and Sunday April 11.

Two-night WrestleMania event

“The opportunity for Tampa Bay to host WrestleMania in April is, in true WWE fashion, the perfect comeback story and marks a clear indication that our beautiful city is poised to bounce back stronger than ever. We can’t wait to once again showcase all that team Tampa Bay has to offer,” added Tampa Mayor Jane Castor.

In coordination with local partners and government officials, WWE will announce ticket availability and safety protocols for WrestleMania 37 in the coming weeks. Information on additional WrestleMania Week events is forthcoming.

Potential tickets sales, attendance allowance 

WrestleMania has a proven track record of generating a massive economic impact on this cities its takes place in. NOLA.com’s Gene Guillot reports that WrestleMania 34 generated $175 million in economic impact for New Orleans.  A release from the WWE states WrestleMania 34, which took place in Orlando, generated $181 million in economic impact.

Currently, WWE is filming Raw and SmackDown “ThunderDome” inside Tropicana Stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida. Its third brand, NXT, is filmed at Full Sail University in Winter Park.
