Learn more about this historic neighborhood
Roser Park is one of St. Pete’s most historic and charming neighborhoods, tucked into a 270-acre district between 4th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, and bordered by Booker Creek and Ingleside Avenue. Established as the city’s first residential subdivision outside of downtown, Roser Park was an early “streetcar suburb” with convenient access to the trolley line. Today, it’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its significance in community planning, architecture, and landscape design. The neighborhood also includes Greenwood Cemetery and one of the city’s oldest natural waterways, adding to its rich historical and cultural depth.
Known for its lush terrain and curving brick streets, Roser Park showcases a diverse mix of architectural styles—from Craftsman and Bungalow to Mediterranean Revival, Colonial Revival, and Tudor. Of the approximately 173 structures in the district, nearly all contribute to its historic character. The area is a standout example of the City Beautiful Movement, which emphasized livable cities enhanced by green spaces and thoughtful design. Many original features—like brick streets, hexagon pavers, granite curbstones, and rustic retaining walls—still remain, while the Historic Roser Park Neighborhood Association continues to preserve and restore vintage details, including period street lighting and signage.
