Spooky Roller Disco announced for Halloween on Central in St. Pete

This Halloween, which is Sunday, October 31, a near 2-mile stretch of Central Avenue will be closed to traffic for a sprawling open streets event. Called Halloween on Central, myriad businesses will post up on the sidewalk to host live music, special deals, exclusive spooky treats, and more. But one happening that immediately caught this blogger’s attention is the planned Roller Disco on Central Avenue.

The event, hosted by Sk8 Pete and Sunshine City Roller Derby, will take place outside 965 Central Avenue, and will include free roller skating from 12pm-5pm.

Sk8 Pete hosting roller disco in the EDGE District

Sk8 Pete has held flow jams on the St. Pete Pier, and has a roller skate pole dancing workshop scheduled for November 7.

In addition to a roller disco, this area of St. Pete known as The EDGE District will also host a Zombie Mob coordinated by Thrill St. Pete, Market Mayhem with the EDGE Collective Urban Marketplace, a Monster Muscle Challenge with Anytime Fitness, and so much more.

Of course, everything happening on Central Avenue during Halloween on Central is meant to celebrate car-free culture here in the Sunshine City.

Transportation has become the number one source of carbon pollution in the U.S. Emissions from cars and trucks contribute to elevated levels of greenhouse gases that can affect our climate and harm our planet. Research shows that choosing a car-free lifestyle is the most impactful action we can take to combat climate change as an individual.

Helping St. Pete go car-free

A Car-free St. Pete can have a major economic impact on small businesses. Studies show that walkers and bike riders spend more time shopping at local businesses. Businesses are also looking for reliable transit options to attract and retain employees.

Neighborhoods with public transportation have increased property value. More choice riders using public transit can lead to improvements that will benefit all riders.

For those interested in learning about micro mobility options in the St. Pete, there will be an e-scooter and e-bike demo area with Veo, Razor, and Coast Bike Share between 18th and 20th Streets on Central Avenue.
