Red Mesa Mercado to Offer More Edge

Red Mesa Mercado to Offer More Edge

You’ve imbibed their expert cocktails, you’ve devoured their tortilla wrapped delicacies, now experience the SoCal zest with the new Red Mesa Mercado. Joining the other hole in the wall eccentrics of The EDGE DistrictRed Mesa Mercado is providing California burrito-style cuisine that is quick, fresh and unique.

Peter Veytia describes, "It’s simple and good. We’ve always been dedicated to serving St. Pete only the highest quality food." The Mercado will be much more than a grab-and-go take-out restaurant. Within the building will be a market which will provide patrons with "access to the rare, homemade ingredients" they’ve come to salivate over. Their insertion into The EDGE District was not just a matter space and availability. After St. Pete institutions such as Green Bench and Bodega opened up shop in the district, they knew they wanted to be immersed in the small, family-owned atmosphere.

"We’re not going to rush the opening. We’re long term tenants. We want to make sure to pay close attention to every detail on the inside of the building as we continue to remodel," says Veytia in response to my inquisition as to a plausible opening date. It’s the special care the Veytia family puts in to every Red Mesa incarnation that has inlaid the name so wonderfully in the St. Pete community. Whether the drive-thru window officially slides open in late spring or early summer, ‘Burgers will be more than ready to indulge and appreciate the art that Red Mesa plates.

This one of a kind restaurant, retail market and fresh tortilla factory will be located on 1100 1st Ave N. When they officially open, the Red Mesa Mercado will be open everyday for lunch, dinner and the late night fourth meal. As their release reads, "There’s nothing like a Pork Chile Verde Burrito at that special late-night magic hour." The opening date remains tentative but be patient St. Pete, this "back-to-basic’s" foodie paradise is worth the wait.
